I'm Not Rapport was scheduled to open at the Booth, but they prolonged the opening, and so Bea Arthur extended. We were thrilled because she was originally scheduled to close prior to our arrival in New York in May.
Apparently I'm Not Rapport has now decided to open sooner, and has reclaimed the theater during her extension. I'm thinking maybe the Tony nominations had something to do with it.
Annie, we already have tickets for four other shows, Proof, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Elaine Stritch, and Sweet Smell of Success which we unfortuately before it opened.
I still have list a mile long, including, Urinetown, Godfadda, and Noises Off, so we may buy in advance or just play it by ear when we get there.

If I'm Not Rappaport is on its way to NYC, jump on it! I just saw it a few weeks ago at the Papermill Playhouse in Milburn NJ. Stars are Judd Hirsch and Ben Vereen. They are terrific together on stage. Not sure if the production you are referring to is starring that cast, but if so, you are in for a treat. Judd was in the production years ago in nyc, but I am going to have to go through my playbill archives to see if it was broadway or off broadway and who co-starred with him. In any event, it is a great replacement if you can't see Bea!

I'm Not Rappaport was on Broadway in 1986 winning the Tony for best play and the Outer Circle Critics' Award for outstanding play. That production starred Judd Hirsch and Ossie Davis, who may have been later replaced by Cleavon Little as stated above, I'm not sure. The movie was made 10 years later in 1996 with Ossie Davis repeating his role and Walter Matthau playing the Judd Hirsch role. The current production should be wonderful!!

A thousand pardons to Howard. Cleavon Little was indeed the original with Judd Hirsch on Broadway. He was replaced by Ossie Davis. I was looking at some information about the film which actually stated that "Ossie Davis repeated his original starring role from the Broadway production . . ." But that information is apparently wrong.
