Bar Sixtyfive and Gramercy Tavern -- QUICK QUESTION!

My wife and I will be in NYC mid week this year. We would like a cocktail (and perhaps bar food) at the Bar Sixtyfive in 30 Rock and cocktails and dinner at the Gramercy TAVERN (not in the restaurant). Tried to make reservations at Bar Sixtyfive -- no luck -- and Gramercy is first come first serve in the Tavern.

QUESTION if we show up at Bar Sixtyfive or Gramercy Tavern midweek about 4:30 would you expect we could be seated -- OR how long would be the wait? We realize with Christmas that things are crazy busy.

Thanks for information!

When I walked past the Tavern last week at 11am, there was a personalready online for the 11:30 opening. I want to have lunch there this week, and phoned them to ask if they thought I could get a table without a wwait around 2pm. The woman on the phone told me that this varies day by day, and the best thing to do is to phone them right before you want to go, and ask if there is a line (queue) in front. I would imagine that 4pm would be a good time to insure getting a table but again, I've never dined at the Tavern, only the restaurant.

If you want to dine with a fantastic view of the East River and the bridges, you might want to look into THE FULTON at Soouth Street Seaport. This is a fairly new place operated by Chef Jean Georges Vongerichten. The view is smashing at night.
