Balto to Key West need advise on cheap flights

My BFF and I are going to Key West in August and all flights we see are 300-500. Can anyone offer any ideas? We prefer not to drive from a larger airport because we are told that the drive can be very long in bad traffic.

I guess that rules out flying Southwest into Fort Lauderdale or something lese into Miami, right?

If so, then I would suggest you go to a site such as www.itasoftware.com and use the "month-long view" to se about flying directly into EYW.

How about flying Southwest to Florida and then another airline to Key West? Maybe it will be cheaper if you break it into two segments.

And $300 is a good price for Key West.

You may want to check out http://www.skyauction.com. It is a bid for travel site which I have used many times. There is currently a trip for bids for airfare from many East Coast cities to a number of destinations (including Key West). The current bid is $161 (+ $75 tax and service charge)Per person round trip.

That drive, from the Miami area, is unlikely to be bad in August. Indeed, I've never found it bad in-season.

Catch a cheap flight to FLL or MIA. Drive down, take your time, and see the sights. You'll be very glad you did....

I see fares of $336+taxes to Key West on travelocity. D.C. National airport to Miami is $165 all in. For $400 the two of you might be willing to sit in traffic - if there is any.

Sometimes you've got to be willing to give a little to save a little.

The price is $300-500 so that you don't have to drive from Miami south.
