Bainbridge Ferry-Labor Day

I need to get from SeaTac to Port Angeles on Labor day.

I had planned to take the Bainbrige ferry but am concerned about holiday and Boomershoot(?)festival traffic.

Will the 1:30 Bainbridge ferry line be long or would I be better off driving south over the narrows bridge up to PA.

Thanks.

Ferry traffic on weekends, much less holidays is always bad. There are many times that you have a 3-4 hour wait. We use the ferry to commute daily so know the system well. I would recommend driving around.

There's no guarantee that you wouldn't be caught in a traffic jam between Seattle and the Narrows Bridge if you decided against the ferry. If it were me and I were starting out in Seattle (as opposed to any place south of Seattle) I would go for the Bainbridge ferry. You will be going relatively early in the day- I would expect greater traffic from Seattle to Bainbridge later in the afternoon. Also,on Monday, the end of the holiday weekend, I would expect bigger lines going from the islands to the mainland.

Early afternoon is probably the best time on weekends/holidays; the real crushes will be in the morning and evenings as folks head out or head home. Westbound is likely to be heavier on Labor Day than eastbound, anyway. If you miss the 1:15 the next one is at 2:10; I'd be surprised if you'd be delayed by more than one boat. Alternatively, the drive through Tacoma can be very trafficky, especially due to the construction now in progress on SR16. So pick 'em; the drive might be longer bur it certainly will be cheaper.

I guess we will stick with the ferry.

Thank you so much for your help.
