B & B's in Girdwood, Alaska

Staying in Girdwood for 3 days in August (wedding). Looking at Carriage House, Alyeska Creek, and our first choice (haven't heard back) Winner Creek. Any thoughts or recommendations, or is it best to pay the price and stay at Alyeska Hotel.

If you can pick up a used toursaver book, there is a 2 for 1, Alyeska Hotel coupon.

We were very pleased with Northern Composure several years ago. You'll have a complete apartment instead of just a room, which would be nice if you'll be there three days. The owners were great!

Have you purchased a toursaver book yet? I plan on using the coupon for the tram, but not the Alyeska Hotel. As of right now I'm only using about 6 coupons out of the whole book. You can e-mail me if you are interested. [email protected]
I will be back from my trip on June 9, 05

B & B's are charming but I must warn you about Alta House. The owner charged our credit card a $200 cleaning fee on a 2 night stay by 2 - 80 year old Grandmas, 2 50 something Moms and 3 kids. 10 days after our stay she told us we had left it "excessively dirty". It was not "excessively dirty" but it is your word against hers at that point and she has your credit card number. The rental agreement did not spell out what "excessively dirty" meant but her later e-mails said we had not returned the flip flops to their box, had left a pan and 2 dishes in the sink, had not washed out the refrigerator and crackers that fell on the deck had frozen to it during the night of freezing rain. I have never been expected to do this level of cleaning and straightening on any rental anywhere. I feel we were ripped off. Our cost for the 2 night stay increased 30% with the "cleaning fee".

Make sure you eat at the Double Muskey Restaurant in Girdwood...yummy albeit a bit $$$$. We stayed at Alyeska...tram behind is a lot of fun and so is the paraglide off the mtn.
