B&B, small inns or cabins in Alaska
We are thinking about traveling to Alaska in July for two weeks and would like to hear from you about small, quiet places in Anchorage, Homer and Valdez. Any suggestions will be very helpfull. We like hiking, observing animals, birds and wild flowers so we are looking for accommodations convenient to these activities. Thank you for your help.

Deal's Den in Kasilof (about 50 miles before Homer) is a wonderful B&B. We stayed there for 4 nights in June. Their house overlooks Cook Inlet. They have 3 bedrooms in their house and then a separate cabin. Beautiful location and wonderful people. We saw more moose in this area than any area we were in. We hardly ever went out of the house without seeing moose. Highly recommend these folks - have their address and phone # if you are interested.

Deal's Dean does have a web page, reach them via, Deal's Den or alaskabb/@alaska.net. I believe they accept credit cards, I'm not sure. It is non-smoking, they were very nice about smokers smoking outside. If you stay in the house, it is a shared bath, the cabin has a private bath. The cabin by far is my favorite, but the house is great also, even thought it was a shared bath. The cabin sits right on the bank overlooking Cook Inlet, with the most beautiful sunset (if you stayed up that late!!) It was just a cozy, cozy place and they felt like family when we left. After we got back, I have got info on another place in Homer that I thought looked real nice, called Three Moose Meadow, and they have a web page. If you want the cabin at Deal's Dean, I would book several months in advance, as it is so adorable, it books up faster than the house. If I can help with anything else, let me know.

Hi Jean:
We were in Alaska 6 years ago and hiked around Anchorage. This is a reason why we are planning on staying there again However, previously we stayed at some cheap hotel with shared bathrooms. So I would appreciate any suggestions regarding accommodation in Anchorage at B&B, small inn or cabin. Thank you again

O.K. If you are determined to stay in Anchorage!! (kidding) One night we stayed at Big Bear B&B, real accomodating folks, even offered to take us to airport, pick up or whatever. Guest part of house very cozy, had sitting room with t.v., all kinds of videos, books (on Alaska of course), microwave with popcorn, etc., soft drinks, etc, even Tylenol pm!
Camai's was a lovely home, but VERY stuffy folks. host didn't speak, hostess very formal and not friendly at all. Home and flowers were beautiful, but definitely felt like an intruder in their home. I checked on another place that looked really nice, but they were fullf or the dates we needed - A Wildflower Inn B&B. Hope this helps, if you don't see their webb pages, let me know and I'll look up phone # or addresses.
Did you go above Fairbanks when you wre there before? I'm trying to find out some information on Arctic end of Alaska?
