B&B in Santa Fe

My wife and I are planning a anniversary trip to Santa Fe, MN in November. Good Choice or is there a better SW destination? How about B & B's, what would you suggest? We would like something with lots of character and romantic.

Great choice! Have been there numerous times and always enjoyed it--most recently last December. Had you considered renting a condo? We have stayed several times at Campanilla Compound and found it to be excellent value as well as very conveniently located--plus it's nice to have your own kitchen. Check out their website:

Have stayed in both 1 and 2 bedroom units--most recently a one-bedroom with kiva fireplace in the living room as well as the bedroom, two full baths (both done with Mexican tiles), vigas (the typical New Mexican ceiling beams) and lots of cute decorative details...all for $145/night. You can't beat the smell of pinon wood in the fireplace! It's only a two and one-half block walk to the Plaza, and numerous restaurants are even closer than that. Haven't stayed at any of the B & Bs, though my cousin stays every year at the Water Street Inn and loves it. Check out the Santa Fe website at santafe.org

Paul,
We stayed at La Tienda a few years ago and throrougly enjoyed it. It is located only a few blocks from the Plaza. Our room was very nicely decorated and had a lovely Sante Fe theme. It also had a lovely fireplace. Each room is unique. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. We still receive their newsletter and would return. We loved Santa Fe and hope to return soon. It is very romantic -- don't miss the drive to Taos. Enjoy.

Hi Paul--Santa Fe is a great choice; we stayed at the Water Street Inn in February--wonderful place with a very nice "happy hour" each evening with delicious appetizers, they bring breakfast to your room each morning and the rooms are charming. It is also an easy walk to the Plaza and "downtown." If you are interested in history, don't miss the walking tour--there will be a brochure in your room--excellent introduction to Santa Fe which has a fascinating history. We also enjoyed a half-day trip to Bandelier National Monument which is near Los Alamos--very nice Park Service site with excellent walking trail and incredible ruins.

I wouldn't wait too much longer to make reservations as S.F. is a very popular desination.

Let me know if you would like restaurant recommendations.

Mary

Santa Fe is a great place. My wife an I go every year for Indian Market.

We found a great little place about 3 blocks off the plaza...we rent a casita with living room, dining room, fireplace, kitchen and separate bedroom called Dancing Ground of the Sun

Paul--Spent a long weekend in Santa Fe in April. Stayed at a wonderful (but pricey $285/nite) B & B, Dos Casas Viejas. It was the only place available near the Plaza at the time (suggestion, make your reservations ASAP to avoid higher prices). Anyway, it was a wonderful place, very romantic, only 7 or 8 individual quarters. Kiva fireplaces & steam rooms in every one, complimentary bag of chips & salsa in each room. Happy hour was included, wine or port. Breakfast was serve yourself with platters of fresh fruits, homemade fruit breads, muffins, fresh squeezed orange juice, etc. Anyway, it was a great place! Have a wonderful time.
