Austin - hotels, resorts?
Although I lived in Austin for a couple of years, I am not familiar with the hotels there (outside of downtown). For golfing any recommendations? Barton Creek CC? What about Lakeway Inn on the Lake?

Something romantic?

As a native and still living here I think your bet bet is the Inn of the Hills in Lakeway. Unless it has changed names. You also can rent a condo in the same area. Very accessable to golf and the lake

If you're looking for an elegant, romantic hotel, it's hard to beat the Driskill near the UT campus. This is where LBJ tool Lady Bird for their frist date!
Sure, you can always drive out to various golf courses from there.

True the Driskill is wonderful and also the newly re-opened Stephen F Austin Hotel right next door!!!
Either one is beyond nice!!

If you want to be near the lake, you simply CANNOT beat Vintage Villas B&B.
It's off RR620, on Eck Lane and has beautiful lake views, great breakfast, and very romantic. All rooms have a patio that overlook the lake.
Great golf at River Place is 10 minutes away.
