Thanks for the tip to take 380 -> 280 rather than 101 through the Bay Area. Google maps has me taking 280 south to 85 and then taking 85 to the 101. Should I just stay on 280 until it merges with 101 or do you think I should take 85 as Google seems to want me to do?

Not Stu, but take 85 and bypass traffic going through heart of San Jose. So 380, 280, 85 and then 101.

Thanks SAB. Once I figured out that 85 was a divided freeway I felt better about Google's route! Stu answered me offline as well with the same information.
