There aren't that many B & B's is Aspen.
It's a little more expensive in the town of Aspen, and you can find a little better rates in Snowmass. The only place I've stayed at is Snowbridge. It's okay, standard hotel room. Jan is still early season, so you should get some reduction. Check with the tourist bureau. There aren't many bad places in Aspen. Hotel Jerome is one of the fanciest, and worth the spurlge. Probably at least $100 a night for the cheapest. Maybe check out condos.

The one B&B that comes to mind in Aspen is the Sardy House. It's supposed to be beautiful, AND expensive. I've seen the outside of it, it's cute, but have never stayed there. Depends on how much your friend wants to pay. And I would suspect that the Hotel Jerome which is also supposed to be beautiful (and has a closer location to the ski mountain) and expensive is more likely to be $500 minimum/night.
We've only stayed at the Limelight Lodge which has a nice fairly central location to the ski mountain, but its rooms are basic. We paid $110/night in early Sept. I would imagine the rates are at least $150/night during ski season. All of these places should have a website if you type in the names. Also check out www.aspen.com

hi, i stayed at the sardy house a few years ago and could recommend it, it's more like a little inn with maybe 12 rooms, nicely appointed. seems it was at least $250 a night. hotel jerome, which is a large historic hotel, also nice, is probably more. previous poster is correct, aspen is expensive! anything under $100 is motel 6 quality or worse. the biggest, most luxe hotels is probably the little nell - i stayed there for work a few years ago and overheard the concoerge on the phone arguing with Ivana Trump over dinner reservations!
