Ashland Trip Report

We just got back last night after a short but productive trip to Ashland -- 3 plays in 3 days. We saw Richard III, Ma Rainey & The Philanderer. All were good but Richard was great! Really a super production.

We stayed in a great B & B called "Nightingail's Inn" right on N. Main. Only 3 rooms, reasonable prices ($100-$145, depending on season) and the breakfasts are super. The phone is 1-800-460-8037. I highly recommend it.

We ate at a good sushi place called Kat Wok. Also tried the Thai Pepper, which was good & very busy (make sure you have a reservation). We had a great lunch at the Ashland Baking Company & they said that they would be opening for dinner as well in the coming weeks.

Nice report! We really wanted to catch a play in Ashland our last trip but drove straight through to Portland instead.

We've enjoyed the Ashland Bakery & Cafe for lunch, also! I want to try Quinz next time! ***kim***

Looking forward to our trip in late July. Glad to hear it's a great production of Richard III, as suspected. We'll be seeing a total of 7 shows in four days.

We love Kat Wok (and think it's the cleverest name in the world -- a take on Cat Walk, the area above a stage). Last summer their air conditioning broke and we sweated bullets upstairs. I'm saving a 50% discount card for this year for the six of us to eat there again. Their stir fry and noodle dishes are even better than their sushi.

Thanks for the report. I'll be there in early July for 7 nights with a large group of family.

My husband and I are seeing 5 plays, so we will have some down time. I've been to Ashland 3 or 4 times before, but it has been many years since I've been back. Anyone have any recommendations on other things to do in that area?

Patrick, are you the same person who gives such wonderful Italy advice? I believe you helped me with my trip to Northern Italy last year. Too bad we won't be in Ashland at the same time.

My wife and I will be there for a few nights this summer as well. In the past, we've enjoyed poking around nearby historic Jacksonville. This time, we'd like to stop at a few of the wineries around Medford. If you don't mind the (45-50 mile) drive to Grants Pass, a jet-boat trip down the Rogue River could be a fun activity for the whole group.

I enjoy Lithia Park in Ashland. It's a beautiful little park where you can feed the ducks/swans. The shopping is fun in downtown Ashland and a stop at the Ashland Fudge Co. is nice if you have a sweet tooth.

I've also seen carriage rides through town in the summer months. Starting in June, the Green Show starts which is free entertainment before the plays start. ***kim***

Hello, daria. Yes, I think we have talked about Italy. Sorry we'll miss in Ashland.
