I sure as hell do not want anyone telling me how to spend my money so I could give a flying rip how other private individuals spend their money.

My daughter and her friends LOVED the whole experience of walking through the Gates on a sunny afternoon. I think art is where you see it. People react to things differently. I thought one of the coolest "public" works of art happened when they put scaffolding up on the Washington Monument in DC while restoring it. I was sad when the job was done and they took it all down. While I've not made it up to the city to see the Gates, I have to say that the whole idea of bright orange in the middle of a gray winter is a wonderful idea.
