Arizona Car Rental

I have another question posted about car rental agencies. My question here is what would be the best kind of a car to rent for a vacation in late April that includes Phoenix, Sedona, the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas? Compact, fullsize, convertible, jeep or what? There will be just two of us.

Convertible would be best to enjoy the views, if you can afford the extra cost. Otherwise, go with midsize.

If you are planning on leaving Phoenix, I wouldn't get a convertible. We have lots of dust from the desert. Also, April can still be cold in the Canyon. You might even get some smow. I would go with a full size or mid size to give you some comfort.

If you are planning to go into any of the canyons such as Canyon deChelly you must have a four wheel drive. We went last Oct. and started in Phoenix to Sedona, to Petrified Forest, Painted Desert,Canyon deChelly, Monument Valley and then to Grand Canyon. Canyon deChelly was one of the best things we did. You hire a Navajo guide at the park to take you for a 1/2 or whole day tour. We went with the half day, but was out about 5 hours. The guide rides along with you and tells you all the history. At differenct places the Navajo set up pottery and jewelry to sell. Our entire trip was fabulous.

To Sharon: what kind of a time frame did you use to visit all these places? I had thought about doing that same trip but didn't know if I had enough time.
