Anyone stayed at NYC Hilton Towers?

We just got a great deal fr; priceline.com at the NY Hilton Towers for 85.00 per night. What can a family of 3 expect during the Christmas holidays? Is this a real 4* Hotel, I didn't see it as a Fodors' choice. ANY Feedback would be truly appreciated!!! Thanks

My husband and daughter just stayed there this past weekend. I was also in New York in May and I stayed at the Sheraton Towers (one block over. I preferref the Sheraton. But for the price I'd say go for the Hilton. Don't use "Room service". I don't know what happened but I ordered a chees pizza for $13.50 and a kids grilled cheese sandwich (6.50)for my daughter. The menu says there is a $3.00 service charge per person dining and 8.5% tax. When room serivce delived those two items I signed for it (did not receive a copy for my records) and gave a two dollar tip to the man. Next day at check out, my bill had a $37.50 charge for room service! I need to call about that! Also, at the Sheraton, I rodered a cosmopolitan at the bar at a price of seven dollars. At the Hilton, I ordered a cosmopolitan and it was $11.50!! I definetly preferred the bathroom at the Sheraton, as it had a large vanity (for make-up bag and other personal female stuff), which our room at the Hilton lacked. Don't get me wrong though. Hilton is usually my preferred Hotel. I am a Hilton Grand Vacation Club owner and a Hiton Honor member. If you choose the Hilton for the price (which seems wise), then don't attempt to buy anything else in the hotel if you want to keep the price of the hotel in the "good deal" range!!

nb, we stayed there this past Labor Day weekend, before 9-ll. We enjoyed it. Room was large but small bath as noted above. We didn't use room service. It had a convenient location, staff was pleasant, and we'd stay there again. The rate you got is great. Christmas time should be wonderful. If you do a search, you'll find some other posts about it too.

Go for it! At that price you won't be disappointed. I've stayed there twice ...both times while with a convention and the rooms are fine.

The Hilton is a nice hotel that is used for lots of conventions. It has recently been renovated and $85 is a GREAT deal for this property, especially around Christmastime.

You will be very close to Rockefeller Center, where you can see the tree (they are talking about implementing new security measures for that, btw) and the ice skating. Nearby is also Fifth Avenue shopping, which is extra special during the holidays due to the decorations. Lots of big stores, like Saks, really do up their windows with mechanical scenes with music and full story lines.

Toward the west, you will be within walking distance to Times Square and the theatre district. The TKTS booth (for discounted theater tix) is at 47th & Broadway, a short walk from your hotel.

To the north, you are less than 10 blocks from Central Park.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but many of them are expensive. Depending on the age of your kids, you might check out Jekyll & Hyde's on 6th Ave (the street your hotel is on) just north of 57th.

Lots of great things for a family to do nearby! Have a great visit.
