Anyone know where we can see giant vegetables in July?

We are flying into Anchorage and would like to make a quick side trip to Palmer area to see large vegetables grown and take a few pictures. We can't attend the state fair in September (school starts August 1), so I was wondering if there is a farm we can visit....
And would they be unusally big (compared to East coast grocery store) by July 4th?
Thanks!

When we were in Alaska there was some kind of fair where I saw the biggest veggies I've ever seen--don't think was the state fair but do know it was July...at any rate, you'll have no problems seeing giant cabbages and flowers as decorative plantings all over the place. It was amazing to me to see how those many hours of summer sunlight can grow things!

Oh, and I never wanted to go to sleep b/c it didn't get dark til so late...my body and mind thought it was daytime 20hrs/day so when I got back from that Alaska vacation I had quite a lot of sleeping to catch up on!

Have fun!

I did a google search "giant vegetables" + palmer AK and found this site:
http://www.alaskagiant.com/
If you click on contact, they advertise garden tours July thru Sept. The pics on the website are fun to see. We stayed at Alaska Garden Gate b&B. Her website said that the gardens at the Palmer visitor center include flowers and vegetables. You might also check, I thought there was an agricultural research station in Palmer, too. I'm sorry I missed visiting those gardens but we visited in June. Guess we'll have to go back! BTW we enjoyed a 4th of July parade just before we left.

Frankly- they aren't all "over the place" and a tour will offer the most views. There is a research garden at the Fairgrounds. You can drive in and take a look- at least I have.
