One of the best shows I ever saw.
How many years on Broadway? 12-15? something like that

It was way too long and boring. The worst Broadway show I've ever seen except for the recent revival of "J. Christ Superstar".

I guess it was supposed to be a love story, but all I saw was a pathetic, deranged man kidnapping a woman...it was silly, freaky, and depressing. Sorry, just my opinion! Beauty and the Beast is much more suitable...and fun!

My husband and I saw it last weekend in NYC for the first time and we both LOVED it....so did our 17 year old daughter. I can't imagine anyone calling this boring! They must be kidding!

I'm not sure Annie asked this, but I too found it boring (BTW-I'm a New Yorker, avid theater goer, though admittedly not the biggest fan of musicals)I think a ttenage girl who likes romantic stories might like this, but I'd think there were better choices out there

Let me see, this thing is so bad, boring and it stays on Brodway for so long? Am I missing something?

Hi Annie

Hope you both enjoy the show cause it's about 2 1/2 to 3 hours with an intermission.

I know you didn't ask people if they found it boring or if they enjoyed it. Just seems like some people have to be so critical!!

Enjoy the show.....

Couldn't be as boring as watching a baseball game on TV, yet millions of people do that. How do they stand the boredom? Guess we all have different tastes. Yea, that must be it.

By the way I'm a 36 year old guy who loves sports generally. But my wife and I love Phantom every time we see it, five times so far.

2 hours 15 minutes.

I left during the intermission. Loved what I DID see, though.

Annie,
Our 2 preteens sat through Phantom with no problem--they were absolutely enthralled with the sheer drama and music of the show. It's a perfect introduction to Broadway for your teenager. I think our society is so used to being fed everything in 30 second soundbites that few people can sit still for 2 1/2 hours. Relax and enjoy, people!!!! The theater is also classic 'old' Broadway, which anybody new to Broadway, teen or adult, will enjoy seeing. We did!

I also took my preteens a few years ago and they LOVED it -- a few weeks before we saw the show, however, I played the CD in my car, over and over, so they were very familiar with the music and the story before they saw the show. I think it helped enormously (I've seen it four times -- I still think its enchanting -- but the first time, I thought it was just "eh" -- I guess I needed to be a bit more familiar with the music as well.

As my 22-yr-old daughter and I agreed, last spring, when I took her to NYC for the first time, and "Phantom" was her first choice of what she wanted to see -- even though I've seen it at least twice before --
Not long enough!

Beats a baseball game . . . or a hockey game . . . and maybe even golf.

Have a wonderful time!

Saw it a week ago and the best seats are first row center mezz. It hangs 11 rows back from stage and was perfect. Wasn't bored a bit. Leading man was excellent.

I believe the current lead actor is a full 10 1/2. Why do you ask?
