Anyone else care about queens rather than doubles?

If at all possible when I go and visit a city I try to find a room with two queen beds. So many of the major chains have doubles.

I find that I sleep much better when there is the four of us if we have the extra room in the queens as opposed to doubles. Now, if all I can get is doubles, I will deal with it. Having only two doubles will not "ruin" the trip for me. But if there is a way to find a nice place to stay with the added comfort of queens, than I do.

Am I alone in this? I am beginning to wonder, since so many hotels have doubles.

I look for queens too!!! We have two girls and as they get older, they are now sharing a bed. Which means that my husband and I get to share the DOUBLE??? We have a king at home and I need the room. As we get older, we are getting wider! LOL. So, I am with you. I would rather get two queens, than doubles. I would even pay extra for it. So, hotels out there, please upgrade to queens( this is for the aging cheap parents that only want to pay for one room!!LOL)

I hate two doubles! DH is 6'7" and teenage son is 6'2" so we just don't fit. If you think it is hard to find in the US, try finding a room for a family in a foreign country! I have been left wondering if European families travel together. Maybe they have bigger travel budgets and can afford two rooms! I found it was easier to find four twin beds in the UK than two queens!

This is one time when living in a small house with small bedrooms is an advantage. We sleep in a double at home, no problem for us with a double while we travel.....

A double bed is the same size as two crib mattresses pushed together! Definitely a queen for me.

A queen bed is only 6 inches wider than a double but seems like more than that when two people are sharing.

But more importantly, a queen is also 6 inches longer than a double, that's the part I like!

We have a queen at home, so that is one of the question I always have answered when booking a room. Prefer queen size, especially with 2 teen age boys. They are always arguing when sharing a double, but doesn't seem as much in a queen. If comparing 2 or more hotel, & the queen-size bed is the same price or a bit more as a double room, I always take the queen. If the double size is atleast $15 to $20 less per night, I then might think about going with the double beds because of budget. I'm with Patrick on this one, especially like the queen size for the length.

We avoid hotels with doubles, if at all possible. Many times I can find a hotel in the same price range and comparable quality with queens.

I never book a room with double beds unless it is absolutely unavoidable.
We are only interested in queens (when our son is with us) or a king (when traveling alone).
