Anyone done a Float Ride in the Grand Tetons?

We will be there at the end of Sept. Will be staying at he Signal Mountain Lodge. Supposedly you can reserve a float trip - on the Snake River - at the lodge, but I see other companies offering them as well.

Just wondering if you've done this and what your experience was and the company you chose to go with.

We used the company at the Jackson Lake Lodge. It was okay. Nice scenery, of course, but overall pretty boring.

We did it with GTLC. Very boring, IMOP. Scenic yes, but I had rather have hiked looking back. We saw ZERO wildlife with the exception of a bald eagle.

Late Sept? Are you certain they will still be going then?

Yes, they do. I've checked. Sounds like we probably won't be doing this.

I have not but based on comments similar to the ones above. You float down the river. The geography of the valley is that you can see so much from the road or land that the river access doesn't give you a better vantage point. And it's a slow float trip.

If you are looking for activities, consider ranger led hikes and activities.

Here's one that looks good -
Oxbow Bend Wildlife Watch
Join a ranger at the Oxbow Bend Overlook for an evening wildlife watch. Stop by anytime between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm to scan the area for birdlife and large mammals. Offered daily.
