Anyone care to critique this Utah parks itinerary?
Does this sound like the best way to go?
Day 1-3 Moab..for Arches and Canyonland
Dreamkeeper Inn
4. Boulder, for highway 12 and Escalante, Capitol Reef and whatever seems to fit... Boulder lodge
5 and 6 Bryce..Stone Canyon Inn
7 and 8 Zion..Desert Pearl Inn
9 Monument Valley...Valley of the Gods B and B..(Gouldings was full)
10 and 11...Mesa Verde..Far View Lodge in the Park.
Then...sigh...we have to head east across the plains to go home.
All suggestions gratefully received. you have all been a lot of help in getting me this far!!!

It sounds like a very nice trip to me.
If you have time, I would put in Cedar Canyon. It is not as fascinating as Bryce and Zion but it is somewhat inbetween the two. The oldest tree in the world is there (at least what they believe to be the oldest). It will only take a few hours (maybe 2).

Thanks Dayle..
Reservations are set. We are going in September...late..some places were full already. We don't have our first choices. Park hotels were full, for eexample. I just can't believe how far ahead people plan!!!

Keep checking the parks to see if something opens up. So many people really do plan well in advance, but because its so far ahead of time, "stuff happens" and rooms often become available at the last minute.

going_places,
Your itinerary sounds good to me. Wish I were going! You've chosen some great places to stay - some of my favorite like Boulder Mtn Lodge. The restaurant, Hells Backbone Grill, is awesome and run by some really terrific women. We love the place! I think you'll be thrilled that Gouldings was full. Valley of the Gods B&B is incredible! You cannot find a more beautiful and peaceful setting. There is nothing nearby though so be sure to bring some sandwiches & drinks with you for dinner. Also, at the Far View Lodge, try to get a room in the front set of buildings for a decent view. The food at the Metate Room is really good! Make sure you sign up for the ranger led walks to the cliff dwellings.

Awesome going places! You will love the Dreamkeep and Boulder Lodge. You're very fortunate to get in both places - they are both excellent!
I think I'm going to have to try out Valley of the Gods B&B very soon. Please do report back!
Have a great time!

Hey Dayle,
Have you driven thru the Valley of the Gods or on the Moki Dugway? Just curious. We really love that area. And you can see Monument Valley from the B&B. We had major flooding on our '03 trip, as you can see from the pics. Our hosts were so excited since they hadn't had any significant rain in 5 yrs!
You can check out pictures from Valley of Gods B&B here on pages 23-27:
