It's in a quiet corner of the world - about 1.5 hours from Chicago itself. If you want franchise hotels towards Chicago look in Aurora, IL. Otherwise, Sandwich or Morris should have a couple of hotels and some B&Bs. Starved Rock State Park also has a nice lodge and is not too far away. Be sure to contact the management at Farnsworth House before you go - I think tours are mostly by appointment.

I don't think Plano had any hotels. I would try Sandwich they would be the next closest.

Plano is very small but they may have one motel, very modest. I think the town of Mongomery or Oswego have a few new motels or try Aurora and North Aurora. These towns are east and northeast of Plano. Sandwich is small too so don't count on much there. South of Plano, you could try Ottawa. Morris for sure has several chain motels. If you want to drive about 40 minutes, Naperville has many motels and upscale restaurants. Also lots of traffic. Post again if you need more specifics.

I vouch for Naperville. They take a lot of pride in their town. The Riverwalk there is neat. My husband grew up in a town near there and that is where his sisters family has lived for years.
