We are planning on visiting Moloki as part of our January 2001 trip to Hawaii. Any suggestions on how many days we should stay to get a real feeling for the island. On which part of the Island should we stay? Any suggestions for moderate to budget priced lodging? Any good snorkeling spots? What activities should we not miss. Thanks.

You ask about activities not to miss and moderate accommodations on Molokai. Have you really read up on this island, and know how it compares to the major ones - Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Big Island? What are you looking for on an island trip, and is this your first trip to the Hawaiian Islands? I'm wondering if you realize there are almost no user-friendly beaches (beautiful but not swimmable!) and very few activities on this island? Let us hear from you again.

We've been to all of the islands except Moloki. That's why we chose to include it in this trip which will be our fourth to Hawaii. We love Maui, and enjoyed the Big Island so much on our last trip that we are considering moving there someday. We tooka a day trip to Lani and enjoyed exploring the Island and snorkeling for the day. Kaui is very beautiful. Part of the reason for my post was to try to decide how many days to stay on Moloki to get to know the Island. I do realize that my best bet for lots of tourist activities are Maui and Ohau. We do enjoy snorkeling, and was hoping there might be some decent snorkeling on Moloki. Thanks for any advice you might have for me.

Molokai is definitely worth visiting for a taste of Old Hawaii. There are several lodging options, but I would recommend Molokai Ranch, although it may not be moderate to budget. Check their web site for their available activities, which include snorkeling at Kaupoa.

On the west side of the island, you can rent snorkel gear from the Kaluakoi Hotel, and Molokai Fish and Dive. Molokai Action Adventures can also set you up.

You'll have fun. I think you'll also want to do the mule ride into Kalaupapa. Unforgettable views.

Sandy, We've been to Molokai 3x and loved it each time. However, we haven't been there in about 8 yrs since we fell in love w/ Kauai. If you want to stay off the beaten path, Molokai is the bet.

We stayed at the Kaluakoi and it was nice. We had a studio overlooking the 18th green. Nice golf course.

I do hear it's gotten a bit rundown but a new entity may have bought it/is buying it, soooo...?
They also have mountain biking trips from the Molokai Ranch. Check out the suggested sites.
Great views of Lanai/Mauai and Oahu.

Hi,

I am going there in four weeks. My fiancee and I wil spend the first days of our honeymoon there. We will be staying at the Paniolo Hale. As we will be starting our honeymoon we will probably not do a lot but as I was planning the trip I found plenty to do during four-five days if you like to hike. From what I read if you want to relax and go for quiet walks you will enjoy it.
