I wouldn't plan on spending any time sunbathing on the beach in November, but there are some wonderful places to do some walking with ocean views, especially Torrey Pines Reserve. Our family tradition is to walk this at Thanksgiving when all the relatives are in town. It's beautiful! (Wear layers for this walk as the sun can be warm but it can also get pretty windy. (http://www.torreypine.org/)
Another highlight for a November trip would be either the San Diego Zoo or the Wild Animal Park.
I recently saw a San Diego guide book put out by AAA but available in bookstores (Green cover with a white squiggle down the side). I was flipping through it and have to agree with it's billing as including the things a local insider would include. If you can find it, I'd recommend taking a look at it.

You could spend several days at Balboa Park. Many museums, zoo, etc. Try a day at Coronado Island. Take the ferry across the bay and stroll along the beach, walk through the Hotel Del check out a few cafes on the way back. Old Town also offers some great shops and restaurants. Boat tour of the bay is also great. Check out Point Loma on the opposite side of the bay, beautiful views.

We were just in SD this past weekend. Go to Little Italy for dinner. Caffe Zuccerro
Point Loma
Balboa Park (Museums, Zoo,) there is lots there.
Take a Ferry Ride to Coronado at sunset and check out the SD skyline.
Hotel del Coronado for a walk on the beach and to look around. Brunch is suppose to be spectacular but expensive.
Old Towne for breakfast-Old Towne Cafe and walk around before the crowds and tourists get there.
Go to the Gaslamp area at night when it is full of people.
Seaport Village

might have a tough time getting into bars. they i.d. most people. but, the gaslamp district is still fun to wander around at night.
other things...
coronado for a day of walking...take the ferry over from downtown
walk around la jolla expecially the cove area
if you've never seen something similar...sea world is great...expensive but worth it
zoo or wild animal park
if you have a car, take a day and just drive up the coast until you want to turn around and go back
could take the trolley down to the border and go to tj for a day although i personally find this to be a "pit". if you could arrange, heard further south and go to rosarita beach for a day and evening.
go to old town for dinner one night...casa de bandini's is good
balboa park for museums (that's where the zoo is too)
could head up to disneyland for a day if that interests you although driving in l.a. sucks

I'm twice 20 and then some, but I would head toward Mission Beach or Pacific Beach. Even if you don't have a car, you can take the trolley to Old Town, then a bus to MB, #9 if I recall correctly. Probably won't be beach weather, but lots of places to hang out, meet locals, ride a bike, rent blades, etc.

My friend and I just got back from San Diego a couple of weeks ago. You will never regret going. Alghough it was getting a little chilly for the beach we did find it nice to go down and watch the surfers at Pacific Beach where we stayed. Some other things to definitely do are:
Horton Plaza- talk about shopping galore! you can get anything and everything there..
Cabrillo Monument in Point Loma- beautiful city views, and tide pooling is a lot of fun if it isn't too cold
Balboa Park- many interesting museums (i recommend the museum of photographic arts)
San Diego Zoo- spend all day there, and try the double-decker bus tour...it's worth the 10 bucks
Old Town Trolley Tour- this is one thing i DEFINITELY would take time for...try to do it at the beginning of your trip so you can become familiar with the city and decide the places you want to go...it stops at all the hot spots and allows you to get off and reboard at any stop...the tour is humurous and informative, definitely not your average snooze-fest...we saw old town, coranado island (home of the Navy SEALS), balboa park and many other interesting points.
The Mission- it's a breakfast/brunch place in Pacific Beach on Mission Blvd....i am still craving their strawberry/banana pancakes and mocha shake (which by the way was the BEST shake i have ever had in my life)
i hope i was able to help some...
