Any recent updates at Aston Beach Hotel (Waikiki)?

Has anyone been to the above in the past few weeks? What is the state of th erenovations? And the hotel in general?
Taking my 7 year old there in 2 weeks. Don't want any nasty suprises.
Thanks to all replies in advance!

We stayed there in early March. The rooms were basically all done. We upgraded to ocean front which I suggest. The view is fabulous. Rooms are not huge but perfectly adequate, very clean and really cute decor.
The shops and restaurants were not open but thats hardly a problem since you can easily walk anywhere.
Our general impression was very positive. Would not hesitate to stay there again. Its a perfect location for a 7 year old. The beaches right across the street are quite shallow and calm. You will have a blast!!

We also stayed there in early march. They stated they are doing renovations but obviously hadn't gotten to our floors yet.

The hotel is old as are the elevators, but the rooms were clean (the beds were very soft). If you can get an ocean view do so - if not, don't sweat it. The hotel is in a good location - right across the street from a great beach. With little ones, there is a section of beach across from the hotel that has a wall blocking the waves so it is a very safe place to swim. Also, at least when we were there, there was a large movie screen set-up on the beach where they showed movies at night - this was fun but it was also very loud from our room.

Saying all that, I would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for basic accommadations (motel6 quality). The price was good with the special they were running.

Thanks to both of you.
One more question ...does anyone speak french at the hotel and/or do you hear a lot of french spoken in the Waikiki area. My 7 year old is bilingual and she loves to practice it whenever and wherever (I am not)!
Merci.
