Antelope Canyon River Raft excursion
anyone taken the Antelope Canyon River Raft excursion from South Rim of Grand Canyon? It is quite costly $439 pp and a full day with airplane ride and river raft trip. We will be at Grand canyon for 1 and 1/2 days. Is it worth taking up the whole day for this? The shots on the website are pretty incredible. We figure we will have a few hours after arrival to do some hiking and then next day is open. Advice? We re staying at Yavapai Lodge

Is this the company you are thinking about?

If you are going to only be at the Grand Canyon for 1 1/2 days, then no, this it not a good idea in my mind. By flying you're basically saving a ~3 hr one way drive from GC to Antelope Canyon. The return trip is a 3 1/2 hr bus ride.
A 1/2 day float trip down the Colorado from Page to Lee's Ferry will cost ~$90 if you book it on your own, and you can also book Antelope canyon on your own, i don't know the cost.
If all you want to do at the GC is spend 1/2 day and some minimal hiking, and you don't worry about the cost, then it's not a terrible idea, just something I wouldn't do myself. Where are you going before/after the GC? What I would do is add 1.5- 2d to my trip and book the AC and float trip myself. If you do go on the river, be aware that the water temp will be in the high 40's year round as the water comes from the depths of Lake Powell
