Another Las Vegas Show Question...

My family and I are travelling to Vegas December 22-25 and are thinking about seeing a show. We are trying to find something that everyone will enjoy (three young 20s plus our parents), but have found that most shows are on break for the holidays during that time period. Also, my parents have already seen "O" and do not want to see it again. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Also, we are trying to choose some good restaurants for the three nights. We are all relatively picky eaters...does anyone know of a site that allows you to view the menus for Vegas restaurants. Would definitely like a preview before we settle on something.
Thanks everyone

We browsed this when making our reservations for Thanksgiving week. Although we have been to Vegas many times, we wanted to try a few new restaurants.

"Mama Mia" is at The Mandalay Bay. It is based on the music of Abba, which your parents would remember. I do not know if it is playing during the holidays. My daughter and I both loved the show. Also, "Mystere", another Cirque show is wonderful. If you are interested in a "showgirl" revue, try "Jubilee" or the Follies show. They have beautiful costumes and a variety of different acts in each show. Have fun in Las Vegas. All of you would probably enjoy "Mama Mia" and "Mystere".

There's a few shows that are available over Christmas. I did a quick look around and here's what I came up with:
Blue Man Group- Luxor
Mamma Mia- Mandalay Bay
Ovation- Aladdin (new show)
V The Ultimate Variety Show- Venetian

Try ticketmaster or any local Vegas websites for a more complete list. (There's another post with info on Vegas links).

As for restaurant menus, I've found that many are located on the internet. I've always gone to the restaurant, or hotel, website to find the menus. Try citysearch.com if you want a list of restaurants available. BTW, I've never had a problem with restaurants accommodating to my pickiness- they've always been willing to alter dishes for me. Ask if you need more help!

4 of us ate at Rosemary's restaurant in the Rio this past October. I believe you can access their menu from the vegas website above. It is spectacular and you can't go wrong; I cook for a living and am extremely particular about where I eat...I really don't care about atmosphere (depending upon mood)if the food is great. We ate in the bar area which is rather high tech looking overlooking the casino. Elegant understated dining room option also. I had items from just the appetizer section..seared fois gras; corn chowder; BBQ'd shrimp with maytag bleu coleslaw. Sister had veal tenderloin with mushroom risotto; Hubby and BIL had beef ribs..to die for.
We also ate at Lotus of Siam which is on Sahara off strip about 1 mile. It is not a fancy restaurant but fantastic Thai food and great German Reisling wines..there is no website. Go to chowhound.com southwest site and you will get many recommendations for vegas restaurants.
I did not care for the buffet at Bellagio contrary to popular opinion...a buffet is a buffet and food kept in steam table pans is eventually going to be overcooked and it was.
Ate lunch at Emeril's Fish House at MGM and had fantastic fresh fish..amberjack with smoky lentils/apples.
Picasso at the Bellagio is rumored to be the "be all and end all". Beautiful foods and service, but probably more for that special occasion.
We were supposed to see Danny Gans, an impressionist, who decided to get sick the night we had very hard to get tickets. I would think by now his shows are sold out for Dec. Sister and hubby did end up seeing him after we left and said he was fantastic.

sue- I have to share this story about Lotus of Siam. I've eaten there many times, too (love their banana rolls), but my co-worker called it Lotus of Gas, for the (ahem) way the food affected him. The funniest part is we went there for lunch one day and they were closed because of a gas leak!

We ended our trip back in LV and went back to LOS, turned the heat back to 4 and all was right with the world again LOL! Thanks for the laugh! Isn't that rice and issan sausage app fantastic...I am so hungry thinking about it. If you have never tried it, do..you will be addicted for sure.

Mmmm... I'm hungry just thinking about it! Time to eat dinner- I think we're going to hit the Paris buffet tonight. As buffets go, it's not bad. The crepe station is sooo yummy!
