mass. is a small state and you can't really get too far away here and still be in the state. greenfield is on the mohawk trail (nice drive, lovely views) and near shelburne falls (a must-see if you go to greenfield, glacial potholes, the bridge of flowers, artisans). pittsfield is a short drive and is in the berkshires. haven't been to a restaurant there in a while but the red lion inn in stockbridge south of pittsfield is very nice.

I am looking for some land (70 acres or more) in the Berkshires CLOSE TO GREAT BARRINGTON, or Stockbridge. I would like to be in the thick of things, close to the antique shops, stores... I don't want to be all the way out by Mount Washington. I think I will have to build a home as we have a big family... but if anyone knows of land or a good place to look for land in the Berkshires, I'd love your help.. what's a good area for antiquing and country dining that has land? Thanks...

I have tried a real estate agent but you know how the locals sometimes know the ins and outs of an area moreso than a real estate person. I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask. Thank you for your advice though, I am all set with that. The more you ask, the more you find out, sometimes... heck, why NOT?
