Anniversary Trip in September: Georgia, South Carolina, or Florida
Hey Ya'll
My husband and I are planning our one year anniversary trip for the end of September. We love good food, wine, beer, sand, and water haha. We want to stay on the beach, but would rather go somewhere other than Destin/Panama City/Orange Beach/Gulf Shores. We live in North Alabama and are willing to drive up to 8-10 hours. Our price range would be around $150- $250 per night.
Thank you all in advance for your advice and wonderful suggestions.

Have you been to Charleston and/or Savannah? Those would be great trip for an anniversary. I think food is probably better in Charleston, but I just love the squares in Savannah. There are lots of little towns with beachfront near both of these cities.

It is hurricane season, of course, so you want to have reservations you can cancel without penalty even if the weather just stinks, which as you know from living in Alabama, it can even when the hurricane is a long way off.
I don't think Savannah has had a hurricane for a very long time, and Charleston hasn't had a bad one since Hugo. If you want more of a laid back vibe, St Simons Island has it, and they are in a sort of place where the hurricanes generally go offshore. So anywhere in this area ought to be good.

Tybee Island is the beach just east of Savannah. Never stayed there, but have visited and it looked great to me. A very
laid-back kind of place, good for those who like their beaches quiet and not too fancy. And Savannah is just a few miles away, so you'd have both a great city to visit and a beach to lounge on.
