Ann Arbor, MI - driving vacation from

My husand & I will be in Ann Arbor this summer and would like to take about a 2 week driving vacation from there. Would appreciate any recommendations of things to do, must see things, and places to stay that would be within a driving range. Thanks so much for any information you can give.

Take the Circle Tour north around Lake Michigan down to Chicago....must see is Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and all the cute lake towns up north. Or go further north and drive around Lake Superior....truly spectacular!

I have to agree with the previous post...see Northern Michigan! It's truly beautiful in the summer with tons of things to do in the great outdoors. If you like the charm of lighthouses there are MANY to see in Northern Michigan, all come with a great view and a fun walk on the beaches of the Great Lakes.

There are all kinds of interesting places in that area. Dearborn, Michigan has the Henry Ford museum, Kalamazoo has Cereal City, Frankenmuth is a wonderful Bavarian town with great restaurants and the world's largest Christmas store. Down in Ohio, you can go to Cedar Point, the amusement park in Sandusky or to Cleveland to see the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And you should really go to Chicago as it is wonderful in the summer, lots to see and do.

How wonderful to hear that someone is taking a 2 week vacation around my wonderful home state!
The previous posts had some great suggestions!
I will also suggest Holland, Mi. It is a small city with a Dutch flavor. They are known for their tulips.
I love Greenfield Village in Dearborn. If you go to the Detroit area, check out Greektown. It's an area with alot of restaurants and shops. You also may cross over to Windsor, Canada and go to a casino.
If you go to Frankenmuth, have a chicken dinner.
Lake Superior is wonderful! Just watch out...it has very cold water even in the summer. I suggest the Soo Locks in Sault St. Marie and the Pictured Rocks in the Munising area.
Some lighthouses in Michigan have been turned into bed and breakfasts.
Have fun!

Go North! Traverse City - Leelaneau Peninsula, Ludington. Might be fun to take the ferry (with car) over to WI and go to Kohler Wisconsin. Stay at the American Club and play golf at Black Wolf Run.
