And the winner is: "Napili Kai" PLS help with basic itinerary!!!!
We will be traveling in April to Maui. We are staying at Napili Kai for 7 days and we have two children a 11 and 13 year old. Any suggestions of what we can do to make our vacation a great memory for the kids...We're talking about taking the bike ride to Haleakala and taking the kids out to do snorkeling at Molikini (?) and possible do a Luau-Any thoughts or suggestions...

1. Whalewatch from Lahaina
2. Maui Ocean Center
3. possibly swimming in some of the pools and exploring the black sand beach and cave along "The Road to Hana".
4. Helicopter tour
5. Snorkeling in Kapalua Bay
Suggest you pick up a copy of "Maui Revealed" available at Barnes&Noble, Borders etc. to get the most out of Maui Website:

Personally, I wouldn't recommend the bike ride on Haleakala with your kids...but I think it would still be a good experience for them to see Haleakala. The Road to Hana would make for a fun day...swimming in natural pools and waterfalls, mini hikes, etc. I would recommend snorkeling at Kapalua Bay as well since it's so close to where you will be staying. If you visit the south maui beaches, go boogie boarding or possibly sign them up for surfing lessons if they are interested.
Have fun!

We are going in March 2004 - staying at the Whaler with our 10 and 12 year old boys. We are planning on another whale watch, Kapalua Bay and Blackrock for snorkeling, surf lessons, Maui Ocean Center. Paia to watch wind surfers early dinner at Paia Fishmarket Restaurant. Shop at Whalers Village, Hula grill and Bubba Gummps (boys favorite places to eat) Lots of boogie boarding and pool time. We have found that the boys really dont enjoy long car rides they would rather stay active at the beach take short car trips. Watch the sun set and turn in early after a walk on the beach. We try to go to Maui every two years. The older they get the more places we will be able to explore. Good luck with your planning.
