Anchorage help needed

I'll be in Anchorage soon on business, and I'll need to buy some poster board and art supplies for a presentation. I searched for office supply and art supply stores, but found none near my hotel, the Downtown Marriott. I won't have a car, so it'd be nice if I could walk to the supply store. Can anyone help?

There's a big Office Depot at 6th and Cordova, a 20 min. walk from your hotel.

Kris:
Arn't you doing all of your presentation work on MS PowerPoint? Who does business presentations any more with art supplies?

Kris, there's an art supply store in Spenard but it's not walkable from the hotel.

You're welcome.

xxx: Do you know how much a cab to Spenard would cost? I have no idea where Spenard is! Thanks for your help!

Krs, how about another option. Get all your supplies ahead of time. Your local art supply store should have boxes large enough to hold your presentation boards. Take the box as your second piece of luggage. It certainly won't be anything odd compared to all the coolers packed with fish that fly out of Anchorage. Maybe you can borrow someone's portfolio case, but make sure there is plenty of packing material because things like foam core board can dent or get the corners squished. Poster board can be packed between two thicker pieces of cardboard. I know people who take trade show displays on planes as luggage. Just keep it under 70 lbs. You might find large cardboard at a bike shop, appliance store, etc. As long as you seal the edges with shipping tape, you can just make your own package and put the art supplies in your luggage. (Make sure markers and paint are in plastic bags. I've had paint markers pop their caps.) Spenard is a street as well as a neighborhood in Anchorage.
