And Vancouver to Toronto for one senior in a cabin in April 2019 is $1,812.30 CAD (it won't let me book May 2019) and $1,950.38 in the other direction. I thought the communal shower was fine, and even the single cabin has a toilet, although you have to raise the bed if you want to use it in the middle of the night.

I've not taken the Zephyr across country but have taken it from Sacramento or Emeryville to Reno several times - mostly in winter when I-80 is impacted by winter storms. Interesting to read about the full journey.
I hope to take the Canadian sometime in the next couple of years. At least one Fodorite wasn't all that thrilled DO NOT ride “The Canadian” Train—IT IS DANGEROUS!

I actually liked the shower at the end of the car (VIA took out one of the sections in each car in order to create it) better than the one I had in the Prestige compartment. It was considerably larger if nothing else.
