I kind of like the non-elimination rounds because we are always wondering when the first one will come and then we try to predict which ones are non-eliminations after that. I like it better when the team I like gets the save but it just adds to the drama. Everyone wanted to see C&C gone so bad and then SURPRISE, they aren't gone and you all worked your butt off for nothing! I bet you could cut the tension in the air with a knife at the dinner they have at the pit stop after last nights show!
I disagree with the Yield choice. I believe the rules with the Yield are that you can yield a team that is behind you. Once Chip & Kim got to the auto shop first and had they decided to pass on the yield they couldn't have been yielded by another team. It makes sense that if they passed on the yield, B&N or the Bowling Moms would definitly have used it towards Colin & Christie because it would have almost guarenteed C&C would be eliminated that night(if it was an elimination round). Everyone that is left fears the severe competition that C&C have so of course they would try to get rid of their biggest competition. This game is hard to predict, ever since Flo won you can never guess if it will be the biggest competitor or biggest whiner. I think the two that will be neck in neck are Chip & Kim and Christie and Colin. The Bowling Moms (especially that annoying blonde one) drive me nuts with all their yelling and whining. Brandon and Nicole crack me up with all their bible talk. I love how there is always some symbolic shot when he starts preaching like in their cab they showed a religious figurine dangling from the rearview mirror as he prayed they would get to the pit stop in time! I like Chip & Kim but think he hesitates too much when it comes to making decisions about other teams. Colin & Christie only deserve to win because they are so fiercly competitive and it's not about being nice but about how well you play the game in my opinion. Next week's show will definitly be a good one though no matter what! |
Re Chip & Kim: has anyone actually seen Kim accomplish anything? I like HIM, but she doesn't seem to add/do much. That's why I'm rooting for the Christian couple - they seem very sincere to me - and they truly share the workload.
I was amazed that everyone could do the bridge roadblock. I think I could climb that ladder but I never ever could walk across those beams...could you? |
For a million bucks I could and they did have harnesses on. That's nothing compared to jumping out of a plane or bungee jumping.
|
I've never seen Kim do anything...or can't remember. She's good at not being a whiner & going with the flow...she's a great supporter for Chip.
Linda of the Bowling Moms does have a high pitch whine that kinda grates...but do like the fact that they will do anything, even if they think they can't. |
Chip and Kim won a trip to Hawaii. Since someone has seen Brandon in Hawaii, hopefully Chip and Kim won the million and gave the trip away since they could now afford it on their own.
(fingers crossed) |
Since Chip and Kim got to the yield first, they could have passed. None of the other teams could have used it against them, as you can only yield the people yet to get to the sign. Still, I think I'd have liked ticking off Colin at that point. |
Aaah... I didn't realize that. Well, maybe he should have held out for another team to hopefully do it. But really, how could C&C not expect to get one?! Chip and Kim will certainly be yeilded by C&C during the finale. Hope it doesn't do them in! Maybe the young couple does win after all...

The non-elimination legs are used to give CBS more control over the race. No one knows which legs will be non-elimination in advance, so CBS can choose when to have one.
The competitors clearly did not know that this week's leg would be non-elimination. Keith |
the competitors may not have known but we did...at the start of the series he said there were 4 non-elimination rounds. 3 have been done. they aren't going to have one on the finale so you could figure out that it was going to happen on last weeks episode. so there was not tension. who cared who got there last you knew they wouldn't be eliminated.

jlaughs: We applied for AR5 last fall. Unfortunately, the application came out the week before we were leaving for France, so we didn't have much time to prepare. But we filled out the app and made a video and sent it in--we figured our tagline would be "Met on the Internet," so we thought it was pretty funny that they used that for another couple. A lot of the stuff I read about the application process indicates that many of the contestants are recruited at special events and aren't just people like us who sent in an application out of the cold. Still, it was an interesting and fun exercise to answer the questions and make the video.

Would also like to know the real scoop on AR6 start date. Although on CBS website it says it starts Oct. 2, if you read this
http://www.realitytvworld.com/theamazingrace6/ it says it's been postponed. |
Another Emmy for our favorite reality show! Very well deserved.
Tonight's the night fellow fans. Won't be here tomorrow to discuss with you, as we are off to New Orleans. If the thread lasts (doubtful)I'll catch up when I get home. |
Yahoo has an interesting article today with answers to some logisitical questions about how they do the show:
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...racestoafinish It also says that they have postponed AR6 in order to put it on on Tuesdays instead of Saturdays. Yay! Looking forward to tonight's episode--and all the comments tomorrow! :) |
Just a reminder--it starts an hour early tonight to accomodate the two hour finale!!
|
just read that they will visit Canada tonite...I think Banff, Calgary area.
|
The article says part of the reason they bumped the fall season of TAR is because they are going to put it back on Tuesday nights instead of Saturdays! This could be the smartest thing I've seen CBS do in a long while.
Unfortunatly the article does not talk about how the crew travels with the teams on planes (if the tickets are pre-booked or not). Can't wait for tonight! |
Nice article, Queen Mab! I always thought the pit stops were longer than 12 hours (like a day plus 12 hours). Doesn't seem like enough time for meal, rest, socialization...
I was surprised that the host sometimes has to race to beat the contestants to the pit stop. I thought they stretched this game out over a long while. But the application says 30-40 days I believe (yes I checked!), so 13 legs in 40 days means they really go go go. More realistic than I thought. Anyone care to guess who will win? I'm thinking Brandon & Nicole! |
OK, 5:18pm on the left coast, and I am obviously going to have to avoid this board until the show has aired here. Sigh. Talk to you all later!

If I could simulate fireworks in this reply I would definite do it! I am so happy that Chip and Kim won. It was a real cliffhanger with the last three couples and I was a total wreck. Must get myself to bed, try to calm down and get to sleep. We need to be up and ready to go to the airport at 5:30 am. WHOOPEE!!! Chip and Kim you are the greatest.
|
Ditto!!! It was so amazing and awesome that Chip and Kim WON the Amazing Race!!! It is great that the team that appreciated the local cultures and scenery the most--won! What a great show for those of us who love to travel. It is great to re-live the experiences of the places we have been too.
In my mind this has been the best AR! Although, of course, I can't wait for AR6. |
