Amazing Race 9/13

Wow, tonight's episode was pretty intense, with all the yielding and the plowing. I was kind of sad that Colin & Christie did not get eliminated.

I was also hoping to see more of New Zealand! Ah, well, I guess I have to check it out on my own.....

lcuy Sep 15th, 2004 12:32 AM

I agree...I was worn out at the end, and no one get eliminated! What a tease!

I would love to compete on AR, but it would kill me to have to run through all the interesting places.....

MelissaHI Sep 15th, 2004 12:37 AM

lcuy, did you know that PakePorkChop's daughter auditioned for AR? She would have been perfect. Anyway, right now she is in India. Thank goodness, a series of plans got changed, so she wasn't able to get to Nepal.

mikesmom Sep 15th, 2004 04:06 AM

It was exhausting.

I think Colin is a brat and if I were Christie I would dump him so fast it would make his head spin.

Just my two cents, of course!!

reneeinva Sep 15th, 2004 04:23 AM

What a great episode!! I cannot believe Colin and Christie were so angry about the use of the yield. This is not something that Chip and Kim came up with on their own. It is part of the game!

Just when I think that watching Colin and Christie cannot get even more uncomfortable, along comes the plowing scene. He is a scary, scary man.

Keith Sep 15th, 2004 04:40 AM

I was happy for Chip & Kim winning the trip to Hawaii.

Question: Since the film crew has to travel with each team, dpes that mean that if the team found a flight with only to seats (enough for them) they would not be permitted to take it?

That's an interesting question, Keith... Just one of those UNrealistic moments of "reality" TV!

Now, did Colin say "I hate you" to Christie or the ox? And why didn't Christie just dive in that muck earlier? Didn't all the other teams have one lead the bull by the horns and one drag/steer the equipment? I agree, it was very irritating not to see them GO. I think there were too many non-elimination rounds on this show. What a baby he is to complain about the yield! That is part of the game, after all. And any one of the teams would have done the same at this point. And Colin and Christie have been the strongest players. I can't believe they didn't see it coming! I can't wait to see them interviewed after the show. Can he really be that horrible?

I was so glad Chip and Kim got the trip to Hawaii. They have two nice trips now, and I think Colin and Christie have 3. Correct?

I'm glad the Moms are doing so well. They really hung in there against all odds. Wasn't it a riot how they put the car together?! And I think the dating models are just adorable - they have really grown on me. The male partner is just so sweet.

I have to say, though, I am anxious for the conclusion. It's gone on long enough, and I'm ready to start on the new Survivor! Such a fair-weather fan...

I was so upset. Our local commercials ran long right after Colin was screaming "I hate you". When the show returned, they were on a bus already. Did I miss much? I used to feel sorry for Christie, but now I think she's just as bad as he is.

Dreamer2 Sep 15th, 2004 05:22 AM

As I recall, they did not pursue the remark. But Christie finally started to help, and found the clue with her hands in the muck. Isn't that "cheating?" :) And they thought it was so unfair to get a "yield!"

From the AR web site: "With the pressure on, Colin & Christie arrived at the giant duck in last place, opting to plow the field. Colin became heated, shouting, "My ox is broken" when his ox strayed off the field onto the grass. Shortening Colin's already short fuse, Christie, rather than walking into the mud to assist, only offered suggestions from the sideline, saying, "Listen to yourself. No wonder you can't control it. God, just plow." After more unsuccessful attempts at steering the ox, a furious Colin ordered Christie to walk through the mud to feel for the clue with her feet. With hesitation, Christie calmly did as she was told and immediately found the rope attached to the clue."
On the site, go to the Video/Insider. Lots of background videos there. You will see unedited classics such as the "I hate you..." line.

Fodorite018 Sep 15th, 2004 06:15 AM

I was also disappointed that Colin and Christie did not get eliminated. I like all the others!

Wish we saw more of the counties, but at least it whets our appetite for exploring more places:)

patg Sep 15th, 2004 06:47 AM

Christie and Colin deserve each other. Didn't anyone else notice her outburst during the cab ride in Manila? Pedestrians stepped into the street, and she shouted at the driver, "Just run them over!"

If she didn't like Colin's bullheaded intensity, she would have dumped him long ago.

LayingBlames Sep 15th, 2004 06:54 AM

Keith: From previous seasons, I remember them indicating that there had to be three open seats on a flight for them to be able to take it -- one for each team member, and one for the camera person. I'm assuming that is still the case, even though it hasn't been explicitly stated this season.

But the plowing scene on last night's show? I was crying from laughing so hard. Seeing Christie just standing at the side of the field, barking commands, and Colin just freak out was priceless. I always thought Christie was a pushover in the relationship, but I think she has a little more power than I had thought!

QueenMab Sep 15th, 2004 07:59 AM

I agree with KimV and patg: Christie and Colin seem to be two of a kind. That doesn't excuse the way he treats her, but she does seem almost as bad. Telling the driver to run over the pedestrians was really pathetic! And at the end, when she found out they hadn't been eliminated, the way she reacted was scary! I wish they had been eliminated, but it was good drama, for sure!

Don't forget--the new season of AR starts Saturday, September 25.

Barbara Sep 15th, 2004 08:13 AM

Colin and Christie are great. They are the best players and are very, very competitive. I hope they win. I'm sick to death of the moms' whining. I used to like them but don't much now. I agree with everyone who was exhausted at the end!

jor Sep 15th, 2004 08:29 AM

That whole thing about needing three airline seats to include the camera man is a bit odd. Contestants are constantly begging and struggling for two seats, as in " We got the last two seats on the flight". You would think that in all the chaose they would slip and say "three".

Those models are getting a bit sickening IMO.

travelisfun Sep 15th, 2004 08:36 AM

Oh, Colin plowing that field was probably the best 3 minutes of reality TV EVER! I was laughing so hard it was painful. :D I've never seen a grown man behave like that--and then Christie is barking commands from the "sideline"--classic. Those two are meant for each other.

"My ox is broken!"
I'm still chuckling about it. :)

jor Sep 15th, 2004 08:49 AM

Anyone who grew up on a dairy farm knows how much cow pie soup is floating around in that mud they were tramping through. They could end up finding a tape worm in their intestine months from now. Yuk.

Giovanna Sep 15th, 2004 08:50 AM

I absolutely love this show, but ain't there no justice? Colin and Christie without doubt are the most disgusting team I've seen on the three shows we've watched. Overly aggressive, smug, nasty, immature in a pinch, self-satisfied, on and on. Christie showed her true colors last night and agree her comment to the cab driver to just run over the couple in their way was despicable. These two are making the brothers (whom I loathed) look like pussycats! I was so happy when it was obvious they would come in last--rid of this terrible twosome at last and then THEY WEREN'T ELIMINATED!!! It's just not fair.

Chip and Kim continue to impress me with their joy at all they are seeing and kindness to everyone they come in contact with. I was thrilled that the middle-aged moms are hanging in there, performing the same things as the younger couples and finishing each episode in good stead. I find the models sanctimonious little prigs, who seem to think they are succeeding because God is on their side.

Looking forward to the two-hour finale next week. Let's hope the good guys win!:">
