Just found the parking website for the NJ Transit stations and it has lots of info, so I'll include it here just in case anyone is curious, or if someone finds this thread useful in the future.

I have taken trains from both Trenton and Hamilton and I agree with screen_name. The Trenton Station is dark and dingy and "creepy", Hamilton is well lit and we just feel safer there. It is just a little bit down the road from the Trenton station.

My sister used to commuted to the city and would have to be at work early in the a.m. (like 5:00) and she stopped going to Trenton and chose Hamilton for the creepiness reasons mentioned above.
I would always get confused about which way to go after leaving a Trenton parking garage but I guess a person with GPS would not have that problem.

Friends in my comples (in Lambertville) keep asking me why I go to the city from Hamilton instead of Trenton. From here they are almost equally easy to get to. I guess now I have something to tell them when they ask again. As I said, I'd never gone from Trenton, just assumed it would be shorter and just as easy from Blue Bell, but now I see what seem like some good reasons to go to Hamilton instead.
