Hmmm, I am trying to remember the burger place, Moldy.

Here are a couple near UNM and Nob Hill:

There's Kelly's Brew Pub, Martini Grille, Route 66 Diner.

The pub on Central that was O'Neills, then Sigs and maybe O'neills again. Lee Ann -- ?

I hope it was one of these.

PS - Thanks for updating my list, Lee Ann. What a difference 2 years makes! There may be other changes too. I know there are some newer ones too but these were the tried and true for us.

I think it's Two Fools Tavern now, owned by the O'Neill of O'Neill's.

Rt. 66 Diner - Could this be the burger place I'm thinking of? I remember a 1950's diner feel.

This info is great! We're hoping to get to Ballon Fest in October and this will be a great help. In early 90s, we ate at a place our hotel recommended - Hacienda was in the name and it was in Corrales. Anyone know that restaurant and if it's still there?? It was very good.

66 Diner is it, most likely. We really like their food - good burgers, yummy desserts, etc. Mr. Pickle is a fan of their Route 66 Pileup.

There's also Route 66 Malt Shop, on Central near Old Town. It also looks diner-ish, and they have a smaller menu, but their food is wonderful. They make their own root beer, too.

Thanks for the reminder, Deb. Forgotten I had bookmarked this. I've been copying lists from this thread for next week. Only 7 more days!

To correct one of my recent posts, O'Neill's Tavern apparently reopened a couple of years ago.

I want to add a few comments: Yanni's (a Greek restaurant) is wonderful, The Range is really great with some of the best Chile Rellenos I have ever had and awesome desserts. The Church Street Cafe in Old Town, which is a favorite of the locals has a wonderful outdoor patio, but I got sick the last time I ate there and the owner could care less. It was definitely from the food cause it was the only food I ate all day, and when I called to let her know all I got was "Thanks for letting me know, I'll tell the chef". When I emailed twice afterwards, feeling like it wan't handles correctly, my emails went ignored. Horrible customer service.

I need to update this list as some places are no longer around and there are new ones to add. I will put it on my TO DO list.

Based on Deb's list, DH and I had dinner at Yanni's and The Ranchers Club. Loved the fact when DH said, "I just want a good steak dinner tonight," I went to Deb's list and found Ranchers Club.

I'm sorry to hear that, islandgirl. I've always had good food and service at Church Street Cafe.

Texasjo - if you're still here, I just noticed your question. Hacienda de Corrales is no longer in business, sorry.

It's true that there aren't a lot of good Chinese restaurants here, but I like Chow's Chinese Bistro (one on the east side and one at Cottonwood Mall) and East Ocean, on Carlisle near Comanche NE.

We've eaten a few times at Viet Taste on Menaul between San Mateo and San Pedro. It's reasonably priced, fresh, and delicious.

Lee Ann, Any restaurant is bound to have a bad day once in awhile. I have gone back to others that I got food poisoning from, but with Church Street, there was no compassion; not even an "I'm sorry". I should have been compensated, a gift certificate or something. And then to ignore my email???? How unprofessional! Any establishment can mess up, but it's the way it is handled that counts.

And to put as good word in, Thai Crystal on Gold Street is really great Thai food, in a nice atmosphere with reasonable prices.

I just heard back from Church Street Cafe. The owner read my review and contacted me. She never got my emails, and is going to make it up to me. I don't see a way to edit my comments on this page. Does anyone know how to edit or remove a review? I cannot find a link for it on this site. Regardless, the owner did right and I am going to give them a second chance, cause other times I had gone there it was great.

You can't edit your comments, but people will see your post about hearing from the owner and take that into consideration. Thanks for reporting back.

So, does anyone have any new favorites for ABQ?

It's soon to be "that" time again. YES! Balloon Fiesta!

Can anyone see me grinning from ear to ear?
