Alaska Inside Passage/Holland Amer Westerdam

Can anyone provide feedback that would be relevant to a 50's couple about this trip and ship?

We have taken two Holland America cruises, one on Statendam and one, on Maasdam. The first was a WWII European cruise, but not a scenic one, so we chose an inside room on A deck with the more expensive rooms. For our Panama Canal cruise, we chose a room with a veranda on A deck...both cruises were more than one could ask for...service from Indonesian and Filipino crew was superb, food wonderful and off shore excursions well planned. We would highly recommend this cruise line and plan to make the Alaska cruise one of our next trips.

My wife and I (in our late 30's) took an inside passage cruise 2 years ago in late June on a Norwegian cruise line ship. Be ready for brisk weather (we wore sweatshirts most days). I'd recommend the on-shore excursions, especially a plane or helicopter ride to a glacier field. Enjoy your trip.

Took Holland Amer. to Alaska, our 1st cruise &
we loved it, You'll have a great time. Note you are
in your 50's. Time to consider Elderhostel trips.
We took one this year on the Alaskan ferry as far
as Skagway, a one week trip with 30 others in
elderhostel. Lots of fun, classes on board ferry and
field trips along the way. Very informal, learned a
lot.

We will be taking our first cruise early Sept. Alaska Inside Passage. Could use more info on your experiences. Also interested in the elderhostel trips; retired from education. Thanks!

We just got back from a Holland America cruise of the inside passage on the Ryndam. It was our first cruise, but I don't know how any cruise could be better. I recommend that you add a land tour to the cruise, if possible, for a much more complete look at Alaska. Such a unique place--highly recommend the trip.
