Alaska - Final Itinerary Review

Thanks for everyone's help in getting this together. I think that I finally have a complete itinerary (with 2 weeks to spare).

If you have any additional suggestions, places to eat, neat stops along the way, things to look out for, etc., they'd be greatly appreciated.

9/2 - Fly Delta to Anchorage. Arrive at 9:30PM. Pick up car from National. Stay at the Microtel.

9/3 - Drive Anchorage to Denali. Stay at the Touch of Wilderness.

9/4 - Hike Denali (either on our own or Discovery Hike). Stay at Touch of Wilderness.

9/5 - Hike Denali (either on our own or Discovery Hike). Stay at Denali Lakeside Inn.

9/6 - Drive to Fairbanks. Stay at Minnie St. B&B.

9/7 - Explore Fairbanks. Maybe gold mining. Stay at Minnie St. B&B. This is my wifes birthday. Any special suggestions for dinner?

9/8 - Drive to Valdex (long drive!). Stay at Blueberry Mary's B&B.

9/9 - Explore Valdez, hike. Stay at Blueberry Mary's B&B.

9/10 - Shoup glacier sea kayak trip with Anadyr Adventures. Stay at Blueberry Mary's B&B.

9/11 - Alaska ferry to Whittier. Drive to Seward. Stay at Soo's B&B.

9/12 - Day cruise. Still need to plan this and I'm not sure that I want to spend 3 days in a row on the water. Stat at Soo's B&B.

9/13 - Alaska Sea Life Center, Exit Glacier, drive to Homer. Stay at Chocolate Drop B&B.

9/14 - Explore Homer. Stay at Chocolate Drop.

9/15 - Bear viewing trip with Emerald Air Service. Stat at the Chocolate Drop.

9/16 - Drive to Anchorage via Girdwood. Explore Anchorage a bit. Fly home (flight is just after midnight).

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

I think this is a very good plan. However, I would move a bear viewing trip to September 14th. This way if the trip is canceled due to a weather on 14th then you still have a chance to go on 15th. I don't think they will be fully booked mid-September. You can "do" Homer on 15th. Do not miss Pratt museum in Homer and museum in Valdez (both buildings). Also museum in the airport in Valdez is small but wonderful. Do you need any recommendations for hikes in Valdez and Homer? Wynn's Center in Homer is a place where we always see moose and it has a number of trails with gorgeous views.
I recommend visiting Museum of History and Art in Anchorage

Astein12, I reread your itinerary one more time and I would suggest rescheduling your Shoup glacier sea kayak trip with Anadyr Adventures in Valdez to September 9th. If this trip is canceled on your first day in Valdez you may be able to reschedule to the next day.

Mama,

Thanks for the advice... at present, both trips are only available on those days. I actually tried to do both on the earlier day.

They told be to check in when I get into town to see if the trip can be moved to the earlier day.
