Alaska Cruise
I am searching for an Alaska cruisetour for myself, my husband, and my parents. I definatly want a trip that offers the most Mt. Mikinley sightseeing. We have looked through numerous brochures and found Princess offers the best package. Has anyone been on a Princess cruisetour and what did you think? Any input would be great!

Try posting your question on the Fodors' cruise board -- readers there are specifically focused on cruises. Also check out cruisecritic.com:

Has a great board both on the various cruise lines & on the destinations. I used that site a great deal when we were planning our Baltic cruise last summer.
We haven't been on Alaska's cruisetour, but know people who have & have loved it.

Did a cruise with Princess this summer to alaska and enjoyed it very much. Did the land portion on my own. Quite often is bad weather near Mt. McKinley so you aren't guarenteed seeing it - We didn't. We were there first week in July.
Mother and sisters did a Holland America cruise tour 2 yrs ago and liked it. They lucked out and saw McKinley - they were there in sept.

I just got back from one. It was wonderful. Princess offers the 11-13 day packages which offer the 7 day cruise and additional days in Denali, McKinley and Copper River. The Princess Lodges were all very nice and the company was very organized. If you do the extra days off the ship be prepared to do a lot of traveling via bus, train or air. The scenery is beautiful though. The activities on the ship are geared towards retiree age and up, however there is plenty to do for all.

Don't base you decisions around seeing Mt McKinley as very few ever get to see McKinley. It creates it's own weather pattern and is almost always in cloud.
There are tons of reaaly great experiences in Alaska and don't forget to leave a couple of days for Vancouver as it is also a great area.

We did a fly-in RV trip this summer.
We drove down to the Kenai Peninsula and then up to Denali (5 hours one way by car). We did get to see McKinley and we did the 8 hour school bus tour and we did see lots of grizzlies BUT we couldn't wait to get back down to the Kenai Peninsula.
Next time I go, I will spend all my time on the Kenai Peninsula. Better scenery and a variety of things to do and see.
