Aladdin or Monte Carlo?

I am planning a trip to Las Vegas in December and can get the same rate at both of these hotels. Any suggestion on which one is the better one to stay for a few nights?

I'd stay at neither. Search other posts for more information.

Why would you stay at neither? I can get great rates at either of them. Far less than I can get at some of the other hotels that are normally recommended on here. I just want a nice place to stay and will plan on hopping on the trams and walking around to see some of the other casinos.

I have stayed at both. Out of the 2, I would say the Monte Carlo is the better bet. First of all, the aladdin was slapped up in a hurry, and it shows. The walls are so thin that you can hear everything going on in your neighbor's bathrooms. Second, the place is huge, cold, and virtually empty. The staff jokes that the mall is the 'deserted' passage instead of the 'desert' passage. I think they are actually in bancruptcy too. The Monte Carlo is small, and has a beautiful lobby. It also doesn't really have a 'gimmick' or a theme, therefore, it is less crowded, smoky, and worn. The rooms are decent. Closet space is a little sparse though. The big selling point is that it has a tram that goes directly to the Bellagio. There is nothing else you need! Have a nice trip!

As a freaquent Vegas visitor I say Monte Carlo as well. I really like the whole place. The street of dreams has the best paid drinks on the strip. Blackstones is very good and the Casino has a nice feel. Not to mention location. I hate the south end of the strip myself so I prefer to be closer to Bellagio and Venetian.

Hi!
We just returned from Vegas trip at Aladdin, and a wonderful time. We thought the hotel was just beautiful, and think perhaps it has gotten a bad rap.I LOVED the shopping mall! The location slightly better than Monte Carlo, because walking to Paris and Bellagio is a breeze. The Buffet was also great. We never heard our neighbors.I just thought I'd share my personal opinions in case it helps.

Both are similar locations. I think you can hop on a tram from the Monte Carlo to the Bellagio.
