Airport Transportation
Hi again everyone,
I am going to arrive at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport at 3:45 on Sunday afternoon. I will need transportation to the Hilton Garden Inn, West Pinnacle Peak Road, Phoenix. What is the best / easiest / cheapest form of transportation? Are there taxis waiting at the airport or do I need to call for one? About how much would this cost? Any other better options? Thanks in advance!

I checked with my hotel, and they said a taxi would be around $60.00, but that the "Super Shuttle" would be $24.00. I checked on line, and it seems alright, but I'm wondering how much time this adds to my already very long day of travel? Has anyone used this service and is there some sort of standard amount of time spent going to other hotels along the way or is there a set # of hotels they will go to ? thanks for any help!

Super Shuttle is cheapest ... how long it takes depends on how many other stops and how close together they are. There is not "a set # of hotels they will go to", they just try to get several people heading to the same general part of town and sometimes you have to wait for them to get a critcal mass of riders before they even leave the airport.
Figure anywhere from 30 - 90 minutes longer than just getting a taxi. Probably 45-60 minutes extra is the norm.
Here's some info from their site explaining how it works: http://www.supershuttle.com/HowItWorks.aspx

Thanks Bill, that is what I had feared judging from their website, but I held out hope that it was only 15 minutes or so. I know, hope springs eternal! I'll probably just take a taxi, and make up the difference elsewhere on the trip. Thanks!

bigtyke,
Is she going as far as I am? I was thinking I wouldn't have a problem if I was staying in the center of downtown, but it is all the way on the other side of town from the airport, so there probably won't be as many people wantoing to go that far.

I'd take the supershuttle. I live in Phoenix, use them all the time. they put a limited number of passengers on the van all going in the same direction. Very organized and civilized. It might end up taking 30-45 minutes more than a taxi, including the waiting time at the airport to get a full or nearly full van, but the cost savings are well worth it, IMO. Great service.
