Airplane noise over Coronado Island?

A previous post said there was a lot of airplane noise over the Hotel Del. Is that the case at the Coronado Island Marriott also? We will be staying there this summer. Thanks!

There isn't a lot of airplane noise. The planes and helicopters are coming and going from North Island Naval Air Station. A friend of mine used to live in the Shores, the condos adjacent to the Hotel Del. There was very minimal disturbance. There would be even less at the Marriott. There is very heavy traffic going to the base in the morning and leaving the base in the afternoon. The center divider on the bridge is moved twice a day so there are three lanes going in the busy direction.

I stayed at the Marriott last summer and did not notice the noise. There were planes flying over during the day, but I did not find the noise bothersome.

Be aware, the Marriott charges $12 (give or take a $, I don't remember the exact price) a night to park in their garage. You really have no other parking choices. Other than that, it's a nice hotel. Enjoy!!

Having grown up in Coronado, i'll tell you that the planes do fly right by the Del on their way to NAS north Island. The good news is that they usually only do it during business hours and tend to be the smaller planes. Coronado and North Island have been coexisting peacefully (mostly) ever since planes were invented! Lots of folks even go down and sit on the rocks at the beach just to plane spot. The Marriot is on the bay side of Coronado and gets zero planes flying over, but I wouldn't choose it just for that reason. The del is on the beach, and closer to the center of town. I would guess the new wing might be quieter, but the old rooms are so much more fun. Get the video "Some like it Hot" with Jack Lemmon to see what the hotel looks like!
