Airline responsibility

Dose anyone kmow were I can get some info on what the airlines responsibily is to me as
a passenger. For instance, what rights do I have when my flight is late because of airline
problems (not weather), and I miss my connection. Is there some rule about them
putting me on the next flight? I know 20/20 just did a piece on this, but I did not see it
and I had a nightmare experience with American Airlines. Any info or resource will
help.
Thanks

Angie if you find one let me know, I did hear that they were tossing around a "traveller's bill of rights" but I don't think it passed. I guess your best recourse is to document, write letters, and of course don't give them your business.
I once saw American Airlines nearly kill and entire plane full of people... long story.. I wouldn't fly them again even if there fares were 10 times lower then any other carrier... they are loathsome, IMO.

rulesoftheair.com provides details by airline and subject matter, such as missed connections or cancelled flights.

Rule 240 is explained. For example US Air put me up in a hotel in Pit. when my connecting flight was cancelled. United did not offer a hotel in Chicago when connecting flight was cancelled for same reason, fog, no visability at destination airport. US Airways does give priority to passengers not at arrival or destination airport. United does not.
Knowing the rules has helped me get rerouted to Boston when the Manchester NH airport was closed. It helps if you have an alternative plan, have something to ask for, instead of expecting the gate attendant to offer an alternative.

Rule 240 is different with each airline. Most will NOT copmpensate for loss/delay due to weather.Only mechanicals. And Rule 240 is subject to change without notice.
