Airfare to Atlanta

Why so expensive?

I am trying to find a flight from Fort Myers (RSW) to Atlanta over the last weekend in February and all I can find are $300 plus tickets!

What up with that?

What am I missing?

Did you research the Greater Atlanta CVB and make sure no city wide convention is going on or sporting event?

I feel stupid, I have no clue what CVB stands for. I havent done any research past the $300 plus for tickets because I am stunned at how much they are.

We are going up to attend a Bar Mitzvah.

It is the Convention & Visitors Bureau. They are always involved with large conventions and conferences.

When I flew from ATL to RSW last May the ticket was also $300. Unfortunately that is just what it costs. You could try going from a different city, like Tampa, Sarasota or Naples. Good luck!

Anytime I have flown to ATL I have actually paid less than $200. My daughter flies up there every summer. $300 is high.

The last weekend of Feb is either the end or beginning of February vacation for many schools in the northeast. Maybe that's why fares are high?

I sure wish I knew.

We need 3 tickets and driving 12 hours each way is looking better and better than $1000 of airline tickets.

I wonder if those prices will come down any or if they will go up further?

Maybe it's cheaper to go from FL to GA but everytime I've gone from ATL to RSW it's been $300, no matter what time of year. Did you try different cities?

I didnt try other cities because we are 2 hours from everything and the savings in money is usually not worth our time to do it.

LauraATL....She is attending a BarMitzvah....She has no flexibility. For that weekend, there are flights that are wide open.So it appears there is no "event".Its just, well, the fares are high.At least higher than last summer. It is what it is.

How Funny!!

Earlier today when I checked, those cheaper prices were not listed. Only the $149.

Glad those smaller prices showed up. I just bought 3 tickets. $600 way
more better that $900.

Thanks LauraATL!

The Bar Mitzvah celebration starts on Friday the 23rd and continues until the 25th. We had just a little flexibility as far as heading up a day before instead of on the same day and heading back a couple of days after.

I guess you weren't looking at Airtran!

I just did RSW to ATL RT for Feb 22 - 26 (Just had to guess on your dates) and for 4people (guessed there also) and it came up $99 O/W ... so that is $198 R/T (before tax)

Still high, but it is better than $300
