Thanks stars the frankloyd info looks interesting. We will check it out.
mdwest, thanks so much for your info re Lodgings at Pioneer Lane. It looks like a great place to stay and has availability for our dates. I am in the process of emailing them now to pay a deposit.
So we will have one night at Green bay, 2 nights at Pioneer Lane and then head back to Milwaukee for 3 nights.
Any advice on must sees and dos would be appreciated.
Thanks again
Donna

Good choice in lodgings. We really enjoyed our stay and I trust you will, too. Right out the front gate is a great little restaurant called the Chef’s Hat. We like to sit outside for lunch. You MUST walk down the block to Wilson's for ice cream. I think it is a requirement on your first visit to Door County. http://www.wilsonsicecream.com/ It is a Door County icon. In the evenings there is often music in the gazebo just down the block from where you’ll be staying. You can enjoy sunsets right in Ephraim or perhaps try one of the many vantage points around the peninsula.
I suggest a tour through the very popular Peninsula State Park. There is a tower you can climb with excellent views as a reward for your efforts. The park is also home to the outdoor venue formerly called "American Folklore Theater" which is in the process of being renamed the "Northern Sky Theater". Their productions are always fun to see.
Door County is famous for fish boils and if you’d like to try one I’d recommend getting reservations at the White Gull Inn in Fish Creek. http://www.whitegullinn.com/door-cou...fish-boils.htm It is a charming restaurant that is also known for their cherry-stuffed French toast breakfasts. Fish Creek is arguably the busiest and most popular town in Door County.
I don’t know if you enjoy galleries but my 2 favorite are the Fine Line Gallery http://www.finelinedesignsgallery.com/ and The Edgewood Orchard Gallery http://www.edgewoodorchard.com/conte...name=home.html The latter has a lovely sculpture garden that I think you’d enjoy.
This article from Midwest Living magazine gives a pretty good summary of Door County offerings. http://www.midwestliving.com/travel/...county/?page=0
Oh. One thing I almost forgot. There is a restaurant in Sister Bay called Al Johnsons. Everyone gets their cameras out to take pictures of the goats on the roof. Really. http://www.aljohnsons.com/

Thank you again mdwest for all the trouble you have gone to with your suggestions and recommendations. We really appreciate it. I will be checking out all of your web sites in the near future. There looks to be so much to see and do. The menu for Al Johnsons looks great. Funny to see the goats on the roof. That will be a first.
( My husband and I are off to Sydney tomorrow to do a cruise so will be back mid Jan )
