Adirondacks or Catskills?
We are taking a few days in Sept. or Oct. to do some fishing and hiking. Thinking of the Adirondacks or the Catskills (or open to suggestions). We will be driving from Buffalo. We would like to be near a town that has a few restaurant choices. Which is better as far as scenery and things to do?

For fishing and hiking in the Fall, I would head for the Finger Lakes... start with a stop at Letchworth State Park for a walk through what has been called the "Grand Canyon of the East Coast"... then continue on to Watkins Glen State Park which has an amazing trail... start your research at www.fingerlakes.com
In the Finger Lakes there are several rentals as well as hotel options... Fishing charters as well as cottages with boats are easily available

North Creek, Gore mountain area is very nice and great places to eat. BarVino is my favorite. Alpine lodge/Copperfield lodge are downtown. Colors were just starting to change. the Gondola ride was fun. Once to the top there is great hiking.
