accomadations marco island or fort myers beach

Hello we are looking for accomadations for the dates July 12 -26 either Marco Island, florida or Fort Myers Beach. Have reservations at Radisson Suite Resort Marco Island the one bedroom for $120 a night. Anyone heard any information on this Resort. Does anyone have any other suggestions. There would be two adults and two children ages 5 and 6.We are looking for a beach front hotel or condo. Thanks. Kathy

The Radisson is just ok, nothing spectacular. I have stayed at the Marriott and the Hilton, both are very nice properties as is the Inn at Pelican Bay in Naples.

I'm very familiar with the Fort Myers area. I have stayed at the Gullwing (1 year old) and they also have a property next door that is cheaper and also nice. It is on the quiet end of Fort Myers. In July there may be times where you will feel like the beach is all yours!!!!! Also there is a condo called the Terra Mar that is very nice and may be rentable by the week that time of year. The web address for the first two is Sunstream.com I believe. Let me know if you have any other questions

Kathy,

As Chuck said the Raddison is number three to the Marriott Resort & the Hilton Resort on Marco Island. I think you could do better in my opinion. Their are a lot of great restaurants on the island as well!

We stayed next door to the Radisson at the Hilton Marco Island and were very pleased with the Hilton-there is a Marriott nearby that looks heavenly-
we were there in '99
Marco Island is very tropical and you can visit nearby Naples in about 20 minutes for all the shopping and entertainment you would be interested in
Marco is very safe and hip and hot
Have fun

Stayed at the Hilton & Marriott on Marco-- would return to either--both excellent -
Radison next to Hilton -(noisey)
heard it was not very clean also!
We stayed in a condo on Ft. Meyers beach
when my children were younger-the water is shallow way out--
we all liked Marco Island much better.
They are not that far apart -you could take a day trip & go to Ft Meyers & also Sanibel(for shelling the kids would like very much-Bowmans beach there)IMO the Hilton at Marco -lots for you & the kids & they used to have a great kids program!!All rooms are ocean view & have small wet bar, with one burner & a small refrig-handy with little ones- the room with the kings & the large hide a bed couch worked well!
And they have great summer rates..
enjoy your trip!

We just got back from staying at the Radisson and had the same questions you had prior to leaving.

We stayed there for 3 nights after a cruise and had the 1 bedroom suite. Not the one bedroom (room). Ensure that you are getting the suite as it will have a kitchenette, living room with pull out couch and TV a separate bedroom with 2 queen beds and TV, one bathroom.

We would give the kids breakfast in the room and then go out for lunch and dinner.

We prefer suite hotels as in the evening when the kids go to bed we can stay up and relax.

The balcony is screened in and is huge. We had our 2 children (7 &4) with us.

The hotel is a bit tired but our room was clean. you can see that they are trying to update new furniture, drapes carpet etc. The pool area was great for the kids. As far as noise we didn't have a problem.

It all depends what you want to spend $$. The other hotels mentioned are much more expensive.

The Best Western Pink Shell Beach Resort on Estero Island, Ft. Myers Beach, has a special called the family funscape which includes the Fun Factory Children's Program for 7 nights in the price of your stay in a 2-bedroom condo. I think the price is about $1600, I booked it so long ago I can't remember. You can see their site at www.pinkshell.com or Southseas.com since they are managed by the same group as Southseas Planation Inn.
