Taking an extensive trip this summer and fall, and want to include the Balloon Fiesta. My husband has it planned for one day. I realize that if the weather is bad it would not be, but if weather is good is one day ok?
We are travelling in our motor coach so have some flexibility but want to get reservations to campgrounds in place early!

I think it's probably enough; aim for a weekend, when the biggest mass ascensions take place. There is another mass ascension midweek.

The evening balloon glows are fun; they take place on the weekends. Thursday and Friday nights have the special shapes balloon glows.

Honestly, if you really want to see this spectacular sight/event, you have to allow for more than one day. The weather may seem fine to you, but can be bad for flying and the balloons won't go up. [Wind is just one factor]. Since you are in a motorhome and are doing an "extensive" trip, why allow only 1 day?

The night events [glows] and some of the days are fun [special shapes] as well.

And for the first time, I will have to disagree with Lee Ann-- the weekends are jam packed with people. I would prefer to go on a weekday morning.

Be prepared for very cold [dress in layers and take a flash light] and dark mornings.

The parking for RV's near the park fill up quickly, so reserve now.

That's true, the weekends are super busy - which is why we usually don't go then. But there is a lot going on on the weekends, so I was thinking they could maximize their one day at the Fiesta.

It is better to plan for at least two days, though, in case of wind/weather problems.

You could plan on being here for the Wednesday morning mass ascension, spend time doing stuff in and around Albuquerque that day and Thursday, then go to the Thursday night special shapes glowdeo and fireworks.

We stayed for the whole thing, and I'm glad we did...because if the wind exceeds 5 (10?) knots they don't fly. It would be a shame to travel to ABQ and have the weather ace you out. It's a nice town, with lots to do, so plan on staying longer.
