A nice, reasonable NYC Hotel?

Hi! I live in NYC; maybe I can help. I've never heard of the Lexington, but the Sunday NYTimes Travel section always lists hotels in NYC, many for very reasonable rates. Do you have a particular section of Manhattan in mind? The Milburn on the Upper West Side has rates around $100 a night. You may also want to check out the Mayflower, also on the UWS. The Quality in in Midtown (5th Ave and E. 40th St) lists rooms for $109 also. Definitely check out the NY Times on the Web. Good Luck! Allyson

Our family travels frequently to NYC to take in Broadway shows, Lincoln Center events, shopping, etc. The most reasonably priced hotel we have stayed in is the Days Hotel at 790 Eighth Ave. between 48th & 49th. They used to have a package plan called Club 111 which included a very nice room, parking and continental breakfast for $111. Unheard of in NYC! Don't know if this is still available and is probably only on weekends. Although higher priced, the Novotel at 52nd & Bdway is VERY NICE. Wish you luck!!

I'm planning a trip to N.Y in June and I am doing the same search.Last time(1992) I stayed in "Excelsior" - 45 W 81st street and was satisfied.I have found the following hotels so farelvedere $69,Comfort Inn $89, Grand Union $88, Hotel Newport $80, Howard Johnson $89, Park Savoy $66, Riverside Towers $60, Travel Inn $90.I don't know if these prices are in effect for the summer of 97 but I'm still looking. Any other help?

I have not stayed at the Hotel Lexington, but I have stayed next door at the Helmsley Middletown. The Lexington looks okay, there always seem to be large groups staying there. I love the midtown location- it is an easy to lots of restaurants, Madison Avenue shopping and Rockefeller Center. Also, there is a subway stop at 51st and Lexington which makes it easy to get almost anywhere. Personally, I prefer staying in this area to the theatre district and you can still walk to the theatres from there.
