A little halloween help from Fodorites please...
..No this isn't travel related but I'm desperate. I am a week away from 2 Halloween parties and am at a loss for a costume. Anyone got any different or creative ideas? What are you going as for Halloween?

If you a couple of friends going, tyr dressing two as fbi or cia and the other guy as a terrorist in shackles, or two soldiers behind osama bin laden with bombs hanging over his head.
Just an Idea. Have a good time whatever you choose. Please post with the idea you end up using.

It depends on what you want to be. Comfortable? Sexy? Funny? One of the best outfits I had was a clown costume. It was comfy, kept me warm, and if anyone thought it was too cute, I'd ask them if they'd seen the Stephen King movie "It" It's a multifaceted outfit, can be scary or fun. If you want to be sexy, just pick one of the Disney characters outfits: Jasmin, Belle. Or one year I went as a Wild West Madame. Have fun!

I did a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader a few years ago (the last time they won superbowl). Everyone thought it was great complete with pomspoms, boots and all even teased my hair big! The thing is I saw this same costume in 3 stores this year and I had never seen it before. I thought I had been original.

Steer clear of those masks. They're hot and uncomfortable. Great for the initial impression when you enter the party, but most people shed them pretty rapidly. Wear something you'll be comfortable in for the evening. Are you going by yourself or with your spouse/date?
Several years ago a family w/ 2 small children went as Peter Pan, Wendy, Michael, and one of the lost boys. Some friends went as those dot com guys last year - you know with the blue skin heads and the black clothes - but to do it right, you'd need 2 buddies to go also. One daughter is going as a genie this year. The other as a vampire. A bunny rabbit is easy: buy ears and a tail, gray sweat suit, and pin or sew a big patch of fake fur to the tummy. Know a fireman? Borrow an old uniform. Get one of those black hooded costumes and go as Death with a bloody scythe - with your head back in the hood, you won't need a mask or makeup.
How elaborate do you want to get? How much money do you want to spend?

Use a big square box. Cover with a red checked tablecloth from the Dollar Store. Cut a hole in the center that your head will fit through, cut the box enough so that you will have a "sturdy enough table top, but have free use of your hands and arms under the cloth. Glue a place setting (or two or four, depends on the size of your table)using paper plates, napkins, plastic glasses and plastic utensils. If anyone asks, tell them you ARE the "head table".
