A day in Savannah!

My girlfriend and I have the day off on Monday so we are headed to Savannah! Neither of us have ever been before! Can you please help us with what to do/see? We like historical things and want to experience Savannah!
Thanks

For $20, you can get the three-site pass to visit the Owens-Thomas House, the Telfair Museum and the Jepson Center for the Arts. The Owens-Thomas House was my favorite of the historic homes that I saw, but I did like the Isaiah Davenport House as well. My favorite thing to do was to stroll through the storied streets of the Historic District, reading the plaques in the public squares; Jones Street was amongst my favorite streets and I enjoyed Forsyth Park, despite a certain itinerant presence. The historic district is so charming; I hope you like it as much as I did!

Have a great trip, Daniel

Start out at the Visitors Center. They have a historical museum as well as a very helpful staff. You can pick up a walking map that shows all the "must see" houses. You can also leave your car there for a very small fee. I would suggest having lunch at the Pink House. It's a beautiful house with reasonably priced Southern dishes. They even have ghosts in the basement!

I would also say the Old Town Trolley tour-gives you an overview of the city and you can get on and off where ever you like.

I second the Crystal Beer Parlor and the Pink House. The trolley is a good idea for getting around in one day.

What to avoid: The boat tour of the harbor. Boring view of waterfront industrial sites.

Suggest touring the Mercer-Williams House, where 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil' was filmed.
